Manufacturing Production Technician

LeClaire Manufacturing Co•Bettendorf, IA
•$20 - $22•Onsite

About The Position

LeClaire Manufacturing is hiring for its Permanent Mold department, where new team members typically begin as Finishing Techs and work alongside Operators. The company provides on-the-job training in its aluminum casting process, parts, and quality standards. Qualified employees may train to become Permanent Mold Operators, a skilled role involving furnaces, molten aluminum, and robotic casting equipment, with a pay increase. Finishing Techs use grinders and band saws to remove excess metal and smooth rough edges from newly cast aluminum parts. They inspect parts against a quality display, identify castings for scrap, clean and count finished parts, move them to the next production step, enter production information into a computer system, and participate in a short daily department meeting. The position involves hands-on foundry work in a hot, loud, and dusty shop. Employees stand and move throughout the shift, use their hands constantly, and bend and twist during the day. Finishing Techs regularly lift around 35 pounds and up to 50 pounds. Safety-toed boots with metatarsal guards and other required PPE must be worn at all times; the posting does not say whether the company provides or reimburses for them. The role offers starting pay of $20 or more per hour, with a $1.50-per-hour differential for second shift, bringing its starting pay to $21.50 or more. Overtime is available. Medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, supplemental health coverage, profit sharing, a 401(k) with employer match, an EAP, paid holidays, and paid vacation are listed; new employees become eligible for benefits in 30 days. The workplace is bilingual, with many supervisors and coworkers speaking Spanish; spoken English fluency is not required.
