About The Position

The Manufacturing Production Technician contributes to the safe manufacturing of refractory products by forming, finishing, and packaging products; setting up and operating equipment and machinery; and transporting materials to production presses and finished goods to storage or trailers for shipment. The role maintains product quality by following guidelines and ensuring products remain within customer tolerances. It also involves maintaining a clean and safe work environment and professional working relationships with coworkers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Understanding of basic safety and OSHA standards.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Some manufacturing experience is helpful.
• Two to four years of previous machine-operating or production-related experience is preferred.
• Previous forklift experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Audit and observe manufacturing processes to ensure products meet or exceed quality standards; maintain quality-control compliance for the assigned work area and keep appropriate logs.
• Operate and program presses, setters, pickers, scales, and other equipment; remove bricks from press tables to rack carts, kiln cars, or pallets, clean loose material and flanges, and set products as prescribed.
• Operate tram cabs, high lifts, and other transport machinery to deliver materials to presses; operate lift trucks to transport materials throughout the plant; transfer kiln cars; transport racks or rack cars to and from presses and ovens; and gauge and clean kiln cars.
• Demonstrate and promote safety, contribute to a safe work environment, and take accountability for advancing a strong safety culture.
• Analyze equipment operations, performance, and problems, and secure resources to resolve issues quickly and properly.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and professional working relationships with coworkers.
