About The Position

The Manufacturing Production Technician supports the safe manufacturing of refractory products by forming, finishing, and packaging products; setting up and operating production equipment and machinery; and transporting materials to production presses and finished goods to storage or trailers for shipment. The role maintains product quality by following established guidelines and customer tolerances, while helping maintain a clean and safe work environment and professional relationships with coworkers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Understanding of basic safety and OSHA standards.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Some manufacturing experience is helpful.
• Previous forklift experience is preferred.
• Two to four years of previous machine operating or production-related experience is preferred.
• Ability to meet the stated physical and environmental requirements, including lifting up to 100 pounds and working around machinery, fumes, loud noise, and other listed conditions.

Responsibilities

• Audit and observe manufacturing processes to ensure products meet or exceed quality standards; own quality-control compliance for the assigned work area and maintain appropriate logs.
• Operate and program presses, setters, pickers, scales, and related equipment; off-bear brick from press tables to rack carts, kiln cars, or pallets; clean loose material and flanges before setting products in the prescribed manner.
• Operate tram cabs, high lifts, lift trucks, and other transport machinery to deliver materials to presses and move materials throughout the plant; transfer kiln cars; transport racks and rack cars to and from presses and ovens; gauge and clean kiln cars.
• Demonstrate and promote safety, contribute to a safe work environment, and be accountable for supporting a strong safety culture.
• Analyze equipment operations, performance, and problems, and secure resources to resolve issues promptly and properly.
