About The Position

As a Manufacturing Process Engineer for Display technologies at Apple, you will evaluate and develop technically complex manufacturing processes for parts and assemblies. You will work closely with internal engineering groups and external suppliers to ensure products are mechanically manufacturable while improving quality, efficiency, and process control. The role involves reviewing component and assembly designs, partnering with cross-functional teams from the concept phase, and providing early and ongoing design-for-manufacturability input. You will develop and improve manufacturing practices, establish standards, assess how designs and process parameters affect final products, and use experiments and mechanical data to validate processes and assess process control. You will coordinate manufacturing engineering functions for programs and lead efforts at supplier locations. International travel to supplier sites may be required, up to 30%.

Requirements

  • 5 to 7+ years of experience in process development, line bring-up, qualification, design, or manufacturing.
  • Strong experience with mechanical manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and engineering drawing interpretation.
  • Knowledge of measurement equipment, metrology design, and optical/contact measurement equipment.
  • Deep understanding of Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods and theory.
  • Strong command of data analytics and related software, including Excel, JMP, Tableau, and Python.
  • Background or experience related to factory layout, flow efficiency, cycle time, and efficiency management.
  • Proven program/project management, manufacturing management, or supplier management experience.
  • Creative problem-solving experience and a strong team-player mindset.
  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent technical degree; an MS is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Mandarin or Korean language skills.
  • Prior display engineering experience.
  • MS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.

Responsibilities

  • Review component and assembly designs and provide feedback on design and design intent.
  • Partner with internal and external cross-functional teams during the concept phase to evaluate designs and establish manufacturing-process expectations.
  • Provide early and ongoing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) involvement to ensure new products are mechanically manufacturable.
  • Design, develop, and improve technically complex manufacturing practices for parts and assemblies using theoretical and practical engineering.
  • Set standard manufacturing practices and independently determine how design and process parameters affect the final product.
  • Drive design of experiments (DOE) to validate manufacturing processes and design iterations.
  • Analyze mechanical data to assess process control.
  • Coordinate manufacturing engineering functions for a program and lead efforts at supplier locations.
  • Provide direction, guidance, and resources to engineering groups, project leaders, and factory technicians.
  • Develop creative solutions to engineering challenges related to assembly processes.
  • Drive corrective actions with internal and external team members.
  • Frequently present technical issues and project updates to management and cross-functional partners.
  • Travel internationally to supplier sites, up to 30%.
