Manufacturing Process Engineer
About The Position
Seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to be located on site at our Harrisonburg, VA site. This role is responsible for process optimization, including OEE Improvement, Yield Improvement, and New Product Introduction (NPI). The engineer will support operator capability building through SOP creation, training, and knowledge sharing. They will utilize process Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge to own and support 1-KPS Problem Solving for critical site concerns and support the plant maintenance manager with special tasks and actions. This position develops cooperative working relationships with cross-functional teams within the manufacturing plants.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S) in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical or Food Processing)
- 5 plus years of progressive experience work in plant maintenance, manufacturing engineering or process engineering.
- 1 – 2 years prior food manufacturing or alternative heavily regulated environment (e.g. Pharma manufacturing, automotive etc.).
- Experience in managing and executing capital projects $50k - $500k
- Self-motivated, hands-on individual with keen interest in quickly learning and applying new skills who can follow written/verbal instructions and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Nice To Haves
- Lean Six Sigma qualification preferred
- Preferred experience with Food manufacturing unit operations Solid-Liq Extraction, Evaporation, Centrifuge Separation, Pasteurization
Responsibilities
- Process Optimisation (OEE Improvement, Yield Improvement, NPI)
- Support Operator capability building, through process cross functional SOP creation, training and knowledge sharing.
- Utilise process SME knowledge to own and support 1-KPS Problem Solving of critical site concerns.
- Support plant maintenance manager with special tasks and actions
- Develops cooperative working relationships with cross-functional teams within the manufacturing plants
- Creates Project Plans and harnesses resources to ensure project milestones are met within expectations of timeline, quality and budget
- Optimizes the operation of manufacturing processes by finding the optimum Production and machine settings with an underlying goal of quality and cost
- Participates in the analysis of quality problems in research and applicable solutions, handles relations with the maintenance and production departments for optimization purposes and ensure follow-up to solutions
- Works with the R&D teams for new product requests coming from customers
- Organizes and tracks upscale production trials and defines the parameters of production for new products in collaboration with the R&D team and the site team (safety, quality, production, supply chain and maintenance)
- Determines material and equipment to be used for the specific projects at hand
- Studies product design, customer requirements, and determines performance standards
- Ability to troubleshoot product manufacturing issues that are experienced on the production line and offer short and long term solutions with maintenance and production team
- Supports manufacturing issues, and troubleshooting as assigned
