1X is building humanoid robots for home use, aiming to automate chores and give people back their time. This requires solving complex challenges in robotics, AI, and manufacturing simultaneously. The Hands Manufacturing group focuses on transforming visionary engineering into scalable, reliable hardware, specifically architecting processes and systems for sophisticated humanoid hands. The team operates with high velocity, attention to detail, and no ego, collaborating deeply to achieve ambitious goals. The Manufacturing Process Engineer will own the processes that transition 1X robotic hands from prototypes to repeatable, high-yield production. This involves developing, qualifying, and sustaining assembly and test processes, defining critical parameters, proving capability with data, and implementing controls for consistent quality. The role requires prototyping methods on the production floor, conducting experiments, performing root cause analysis, and documenting controlled production systems. The engineer will directly impact the yield, cost, and scalability of every hand produced.
