About The Position

This 12-month developmental assignment is designed to develop the manufacturing, technical, project execution, and leadership capabilities required to progress toward a Forming Process Engineer role. It combines structured experience in Fabrication and Forming/Hot End with hands-on responsibility for process improvement, automation, daily management systems, cross-functional coordination, and sustainable operational results. The role is expected to build a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, controls, loss elimination, and plant operating standards while delivering measurable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, Manufacturing, or a related Engineering discipline
  • Technical aptitude, learning agility, analytical ability, and a demonstrated interest in manufacturing process engineering and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to organize work, coordinate across functions, analyze data, manage action plans, and communicate clearly with employees at different levels of the organization.
  • Working knowledge of common engineering and problem-solving tools; experience with data analysis, process mapping, root cause analysis, project management, or automation is preferred.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships, seek input, respond constructively to feedback, and influence progress without direct authority.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment, spend significant time on the production floor, and support off-shift or weekend needs when required.
  • Proficiency with standard business applications used for data analysis, reporting, presentations, and project tracking.

Nice To Haves

  • Recent graduates and candidates with relevant co-op or internship experience are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project resources supporting Manufacturing and Technical leadership, including project scope, milestones, owners, dependencies, risks, decisions, budget considerations, and timely closure of actions.
  • Support automation-line improvements with a defined objective to optimize staffing requirements while maintaining safe and stable operations.
  • Establish and sustain daily management metrics in three Fabrication areas, including targets, owners, data sources, visual controls, review routines, gap actions, and escalation triggers.
  • Prepare and distribute a concise weekly report to Technical, Plant, Operations, and HR leadership and other designated stakeholders, summarizing performance, project status, risks, decisions, and support needed.
  • Analyze process performance and identify losses, constraints, and improvement opportunities using production data, direct observation, operator input, and structured problem-solving methods.
  • Support trials, equipment changes, process adjustments, and implementation activities by defining success criteria, monitoring results, documenting findings, and recommending next steps.
  • Document standard work, training requirements, process controls, maintenance expectations, and ownership needed to sustain staffing and performance improvements.
  • Complete a structured assignment in Forming/Hot End, with specific process areas, metrics, projects, stakeholders, and deliverables confirmed before the rotation begins.
  • Develop working knowledge of forming-process variables, equipment, controls, quality requirements, raw-material interactions, troubleshooting methods, reliability practices, and loss-elimination priorities.
  • Monitor assigned process conditions and performance trends, investigate deviations, and partner with Operations, Maintenance, Technical, Quality, and Safety resources to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead or support improvement projects that strengthen process capability, equipment reliability, yield, throughput, energy efficiency, and operating discipline.
  • Manage assigned daily metrics, weekly reporting, project coordination, improvement work, and documented sustainment plans.
  • Champion a safe, clean, environmentally compliant, and disciplined workplace by following plant standards, identifying hazards, and supporting timely corrective action.
  • Build effective relationships with operators and support functions through regular time on the manufacturing floor, clear communication, and timely follow-through.
  • Use structured problem solving, TPM, Focused Improvement, root cause analysis, statistical thinking, and production data to reduce loss, variation, waste, and recurring equipment or process issues.
  • Coordinate Operations, Maintenance, Technical, Quality, Safety, Automation, Supply Chain, and other assigned resources to deliver projects and resolve manufacturing priorities.
  • Translate observations and data into clear problem statements, improvement plans, expected benefits, implementation actions, and sustainment controls.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, process data, standard work, training materials, and decision records.
  • Communicate progress, results, barriers, decisions, and support needs to Technical and Plant leadership through effective written reports, presentations, and routine operating reviews.
  • Engage employees closest to the work, incorporate their knowledge into solutions, and support adoption of new methods, equipment, and standards.
  • Demonstrate ownership, urgency, sound judgment, and follow-through while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
