About The Position

TPC Converting is a leading provider of industrial packaging solutions. We offer standard tapes, films, labels, equipment, and more – each of these can be custom-tailored to meet the needs of customer applications. Equipped with over 55 years of industry experience, customers know they can rely on TPC to meet their industrial packaging needs. We are looking for a motivated and analytical Process Engineer Intern to join our team for the Spring or Summer semesters. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the optimization and improvement of our manufacturing processes. This internship offers hands-on experience in process engineering within a collaborative and innovative environment. This internship will help you acquire business skills and provide you with knowledge of packaging operations. Ultimately, you will gain broad business experience and should be prepared to enter any fast-paced work environment.

Requirements

  • Current university enrollment in a chemical, mechanical or industrial engineering degree program.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Minitab, MATLAB).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience is helpful.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies is desirable.
  • Familiarity with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, COMSOL) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Solid understanding of fundamental engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in analyzing current manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Work closely with senior process engineers to develop and implement process optimization strategies and solutions.
  • Conduct data analysis and statistical studies to evaluate process performance and identify trends or deviations.
  • Participate in process troubleshooting activities to address issues and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality control and maintenance to implement process improvements and ensure seamless integration.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of experiments to validate process changes and improvements.
  • Help develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for manufacturing processes.
  • Support the evaluation and implementation of new equipment, technologies and methodologies to enhance process efficiency and productivity.
  • Assist in conducting risk assessments and hazard analyses to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing and Six Sigma projects.
  • Document project activities, findings and recommendations in clear and concise reports.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Process Engineering Supervisor.
