About The Position

As a Supervisor – you’ll be part of our Metals team working as an on-site employee. This role is responsible for maintaining production records, enforcing safe working environments, supervising employees, owning plant security, recommending disciplinary actions, and ensuring adherence to company rules (TS16949, Quality guidelines, and HR published procedures). The supervisor is responsible for production runs, proper change over procedures, product quality, and maximizing the production area's potential. They must report any difficulties to the Operations Manager and ensure the availability of component parts and supplies. This role also involves ensuring proper installation of safety equipment, troubleshooting manufacturing process problems, maintaining housekeeping, analyzing operational/cost savings recommendations, maintaining efficiency levels, and driving continuous improvement within the department. A proactive approach is required to ensure the working/processing environment meets expectations. This position will report to the Operations Manager but will interact with all required functions necessary to provide the shop floor with resources required to meet goals in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The role also includes full safety responsibility, promoting Behavioral Based Safety, conducting monthly safety trainings/investigations, completing safety incident reporting, supporting continuous improvement philosophy driving lean manufacturing principles (6S projects, SMED events, Kaizen), and being responsible for manning requirements, training and talent development, goal attainment, and continuous improvement. Maintaining time and attendance tracking is also a key responsibility. Quality responsibilities include performing daily layered audits, quality investigations (8D and 4 Block), providing leadership and guidance for Quality Auditors, tool distribution, and assisting operations with scheduling, printing, and distribution of work orders. The supervisor will also interface with other Supervisors to ensure efficient operations between shifts.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years Manufacturing experience required (cold forming, preferred)
  • 3 years’ direct supervisory experience required
  • Strong leadership and effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of production equipment/tooling
  • Ability to work a full-time flexible schedule, including some early morning, overnight and weekend shifts, to work overtime as needed, and to respond to urgent issues at the plant when they arise

Responsibilities

  • Maintains production records for production counts and standard hours.
  • Enforces safe working environments and activities.
  • Supervises all employees in the manufacturing departments.
  • Owns responsibility for plant security.
  • Recommends disciplinary action for all production personnel.
  • Responsible for adhering/enforcing to all company rules: TS16949, Quality guidelines, and HR published procedures.
  • Owns responsibility for production runs, proper change over procedures, quality of product, and maximizing the production area's full potential.
  • Reports immediately to the Operations Manager any difficulties arising due to conditions of machines or employee actions.
  • Sets up and assign personnel to specific jobs according to scheduling requirements.
  • Ensures availability of component parts and supplies.
  • Ensures proper installation of safety equipment and that safety regulations are adhered to.
  • Troubleshoots manufacturing process problems and rectify accordingly.
  • Ensures that housekeeping is maintained within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Analyzes and submit operational and/or cost savings recommendations as is feasible.
  • Maintains efficiency levels at an optimum level and explain deviations from expected levels.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement within the department.
  • Provides prompt, accurate documentation of machine, material or tooling problems to appropriate functional area for resolution.
  • Takes a proactive approach to ensure working/processing environment meets level of expectations at all times and reports discrepancies, i.e. housekeeping, machine condition, material, tooling and personnel competence.
