About The Position

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will have the opportunity to maintain manufacturing operations through the performance of machine maintenance and troubleshooting in Pistol and other areas as needed. Perform basic machine shop and metal working processes such as operate manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, polish dies and sharpen knives. Other work as directed. This role involves working independently with minimum supervision and requires the ability to perform setups and changeovers on production equipment. You will also use precision measuring instruments and demonstrate leadership qualities in safety, personal discipline, and attitude. Employee work assignments may include tasks working with and/or exposure to potentially hazardous areas, including flammables and explosives. Safety training is provided to all employees to ensure compliance with company and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • No disciplinary action at Report of Conference level or above in past 12 months.
  • Current Manufacturing Maintenance Mechanics will have priority over other applicants.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively troubleshoot.
  • Demonstrated above average craft or mechanical ability (carpentry, millwright, tinsmith, plumber).
  • Training and experience in a machine shop or knowledge of metal working machining and processes.
  • Ability to operate surface grinder, polish dies and sharpen knives.
  • Demonstrated effective written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Positive customer service attitude.
  • Demonstrated leadership/organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to weld, braze, and solder all types of metals (steel, aluminum, etc…) with proficiency.
  • Ability to rivet.
  • Experience grinding, filing, and threading metal.
  • Basic welding skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national; U.S. lawful, permanent resident (a/k/a green card holder); Refugee under 8 U.S.C. Section 1157; or Asylee under 8 U.S.C. Section 1158 or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
  • Must not be convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year.
  • Must not be a fugitive from justice.
  • Must not be an unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance.
  • Must not have been adjudicated as a mental defective or committed to any mental institution.
  • Must not be an illegal alien.
  • Must not have been discharged from the Armed Forces under dishonorable conditions.
  • Must not have renounced U.S. Citizenship.
  • Must not be subject to a court order restraining the person from harassing, stalking, or threatening an intimate partner or child of the intimate partner.
  • Must not have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.

Nice To Haves

  • Electronic experience or education.
  • Knowledge of/experience in pneumatics, hydraulics, welding.
  • Tinsmith experience.
  • Personal computer skills.
  • Able to sketch simple parts and read basic blue prints.
  • Ability to get along and train other people that have a variety of skill levels.
