About The Position

This position may be assigned to any of three production departments in a manufacturing facility. Stamping uses presses to form parts for metal burial caskets. Assembly welds and grinds stamped casket parts. Finish installs components such as beds, mattresses, fabric coverings, hardware, and panels.

The Production Operator I performs production work in an assigned department and remains actively signed off on 0–8 production-related jobs. The role requires dependable, flexible work, attention to quality and safety, the ability to follow standard and complex instructions, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Operators use machinery and handle materials, parts, and finished goods. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Requirements

• No prior experience is necessary.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is preferred.
• Ability to be dependable and flexible.
• Excellent observation skills for maintaining quality standards.
• High standards of safety.
• Ability to follow standard and complex instructions.
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to operate machinery, small and/or heavy.
• Ability to handle, lift, and load caskets weighing up to approximately 100 pounds.
• Frequently able to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear.

Nice To Haves

• Experience as a press operator.
• Welding or grinding experience.
• Sewing experience.
• Experience using hand tools.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Work in one of the manufacturing facility’s production departments: Stamping, Assembly, or Finish.
• Stamp metal burial casket parts using presses, as assigned.
• Weld and grind stamped casket parts, as assigned.
• Install casket finishing components such as beds, mattresses, fabric coverings, hardware, and panels, as assigned.
• Operate small and/or heavy machinery.
• Lift or move materials, parts, and finished goods.
• Follow standard and complex instructions while meeting quality and safety standards.
• Remain actively signed off on 0–8 production-related jobs within the assigned department.
