About The Position

The Summer 2027 Manufacturing Intern will learn the processes and procedures at DFA’s Portales plant, from milk intake through final product. The intern will contribute to a team or lead an individual project aimed at improving a plant KPI or deliverable. The role also involves working across production, quality, engineering, and warehouse teams to understand losses and develop corrective actions or initiatives. The intern will visit an area dairy to learn more about DFA and use lean Six Sigma tools and Microsoft Office to collect and analyze data, identify causes of loss, and implement countermeasures.

Requirements

• Be a junior or senior in fall 2027.
• Have a degree focus in Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Agriculture, Business, Food Science, Biology, or Chemistry.

Responsibilities

• Learn DFA Portales plant processes and procedures, from milk intake to final product.
• Participate as a team member or lead an individual project to improve a plant KPI or deliverable.
• Work cross-functionally with production, quality, engineering, and warehouse teams to understand losses and develop corrective actions or initiatives.
• Visit an area dairy to learn more about DFA.
• Use lean Six Sigma tools and Microsoft Office to collect and analyze data, identify causes of loss, and implement countermeasures.
