About The Position

This role serves as the primary driver of Manufacturing Innovations in all the Joints Supply Chain (J&J MedTech) sites in America - currently Raynham and Warsaw, with Costa Rica coming online. The role is part of the Global Manufacturing Innovation (MI) organization and will be reporting to the Global Director of Manufacturing Innovation. This position demands a hands-on approach with a significant presence on site, ensuring active engagement and alignment with customer operations and internal innovation initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Science, Manufacturing, Production, or Operations Management.
  • Strong experience working in metal manufacturing environments—such as additive manufacturing, machining, casting, or precision metals processing—with a solid understanding of materials, quality controls and supplier dynamics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability and passion for leading complex change initiatives that deliver transformative results for an organization.
  • Strong customer relationship management capabilities, including the ability to understand customer pain points, resolve issues, and identify value‑creation opportunities.
  • Proven experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, ideally supporting metals, medical devices, aerospace, automotive, or similar precision‑driven industries.
  • Background in program management, project delivery and team leadership, with a track record of meeting deadlines, managing risk, and driving cross‑functional alignment.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, emerging technologies, and innovation ecosystems, with an aptitude for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Works effectively in a team‑oriented environment, with strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable partnering with and supporting teams across multiple, geographically dispersed locations.
  • Fully participates in and adheres to all compliance, quality, and regulatory requirements relevant to the role.
  • Consistently follows local laws, company policies, and ethical standards, maintaining the highest levels of integrity and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Work hand-in-glove with site leadership to ensure that their frustrations and opportunities are fully understood.
  • Actively monitor and analyze the manufacturing value streams for opportunities where innovation can make a direct and positive impact to the business.
  • Identify new opportunities and collaborate with other teams to formulate realistic, high-impact innovation programs underpinned by strong return on investment, seeking alignment with key partners and customers.
  • Develop fully costed and scheduled programs, secure funding and support for the project from initiation to implementation - from Technology Readiness Level, TRL 1 to TRL 9.
  • Assess internal and external funding opportunities, including government funding and tax incentives, balancing risks and speed of delivery.
  • Develop and be accountable for the sites' innovation roadmaps that delivers the required Key Performance Indictors, aligning innovations with site drivers so that a pipeline of impactful innovations are delivered to the site, year on year.
  • Accountable for a team of manufacturing engineers and the effective delivery of programs - from inception to completion and fostering positive relationships built on trust and mutual value.
  • Ensure the programs are maintained to schedule, budget and risk management plans, delivering the programmer’s intended benefits.
  • Work collaboratively across different functions to provide balanced assessments of manufacturing solutions and innovations, ensuring customer needs are met with impactful and timely solutions.
  • Contribute to key site/platform initiatives (e.g. JJPS, JJOS).
