About The Position

Provides hands-on technical support to the Manufacturing Engineering function on the production floor. Assists in creating, documenting, and improving manufacturing processes, including work instructions, plant layouts, and process documentation. Builds, sets up, tests, and troubleshoots tooling, fixtures, and process changes; supports LEAN events and productivity improvement projects; and helps ensure production processes meet quality, safety, and delivery requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of work experience utilizing mechanical abilities such as wiring, welding, fabricating, metal crafting, designing, etc.; exposure to manufacturing processes preferred
  • Intermediate computer knowledge (Windows, email, internet, Microsoft Office)
  • Basic knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles preferred
  • Written and verbal communication, reading, and math skills sufficient to create and interpret process documentation
  • OR An acceptable combination of education and experience
  • Walking, sitting, or standing to a significant degree.
  • Ability to lift 70 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push and/or pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and/or stairs.
  • Stooping, crouching, kneeling, and bending.
  • Handling, feeling, and gripping would be required for some activities.
  • Visual acuity is required to inspect work completed.
  • Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with visitors, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating and maintaining manufacturing process documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Standard Assembly Procedures (SAPs) and Work Instructions.
  • Participate in LEAN events such as Kaizens, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, and VAVE. Gather information, complete assigned action items, and follow up.
  • Assist with completing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Engineering Change Requests/Notices (ECR/ECNs).
  • Support productivity improvement projects by building, setting up, testing, and troubleshooting tooling, fixtures, and process changes on the production floor.
  • Assist with plant layouts of equipment, workflow, storage, and exterior items.
  • Assist with time and motion analysis studies.
  • Assists in the fabrication and wiring of new or modified tooling, fixtures, and equipment being developed.
  • Support manufacturing processes as needed, including assisting with technical troubleshooting and training.
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining quality assurance procedures to ensure testing, purchasing, and receiving are consistent with product and process specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including labeling of nonproduction parts.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating collaboratively with customers, suppliers, co-workers, and management.
  • Helps company meet its Strategic, Quality and Safety objectives.
  • May require additional responsibility and ability to work overtime hours.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
