About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician II is responsible for performing daily activities associated with the manufacture of machined components and assembly processes at SIG SAUER’s manufacturing facilities. This position will provide technical services involving basic tool design, programming and setup of specialized marking and finishing equipment, technical input for work instructions, and production floor level problem solving and data collection.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent, with 3-6 years of related technical experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) ASME Y14.5M-2009.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic knowledge of SOLIDWORKS or similar CAD system.
  • Must be able to quickly learn a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret part specifications.
  • Must be able to execute multiple tasks necessary to meet job duties and responsibilities.
  • Must be able to work in a team.
  • Quality of work must be very high.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately communicate ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.
  • Written and verbal communication of technical subjects is required.
  • Organization of documentation and record keeping shall be to a high standard.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Manufacturing Engineers to implement manufacturing processes in the plant.
  • Maintain machines, fixtures, and tooling on all lines.
  • Familiar with manufacturing processes for new and breakthrough electro optic product designs.
  • Help determine budgetary estimates for equipment, tools, gages, and production rate.
  • Train operators on the proper use of production equipment.
  • Assist with the creation, implementation, and maintenance of process documentation including work instructions, control plans, and visual standards.
  • Assist with procuring tooling and equipment for legacy and new products to meet launch timelines and cost targets.
  • Manage and procure departmental consumable parts for all machinery.
  • Evaluate and improve legacy and new product production designs for Manufacturability while applying GD&T and dimensional stack-ups.
  • Provide detailed technical services in two or more of the following areas on a daily basis to the production floor: Programming for marking processes such as laser and mechanical routers. Programming of robots or collaborative robot cells. Setup of pneumatic and/or automated machines. Machine and Tool Design. Adhesive prep and application.
  • Carry out new systems and processes to successfully implement into full production.
  • Participate on machine runoffs for new capital equipment per machine specifications. Duties include machine operation, training, and inspection.
  • Recommend and implement alterations and enhancements to improve quality of legacy and new production products, procedures, and the output and quality of legacy and new production manufacturing processes.
  • Troubleshoot and fix production issues on legacy and new production products.
  • Seek occasional support from Manufacturing Engineers for persistent issues.
  • May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Engage in and actively volunteers for Continuous Improvement projects and tasks.
  • Participate in 5S Workplace organizational activities and maintain the area in good working order through sustainment activities.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
