Manufacturing Engineering Tech II

PowerSecure, Inc.•Durham, NC

About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician (MET) supports Production in partnership with Manufacturing Engineers and Production Supervisors. The role enables a fast response to bills of materials, design, and manufacturability improvements or problems that impede assembly operations. The MET also serves as a liaison between design engineering and production team members during prototype and pilot builds, identifies where manufacturing assembly or standardized work instructions could improve productivity or quality, and assists with designing and implementing tooling and fixtures. The position provides plant-floor support for generator and switchgear assembly, manufacturing processes, product structures, BOMs, routings, part setup, and material flow. The MET gathers data within manufacturing to support Manufacturing Engineering and Continuous Improvement initiatives and promotes waste identification and elimination through Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen. The role may require travel to the DI-Randleman manufacturing facility, extended hours, and weekends, and includes training and mentoring less experienced Manufacturing Engineering Technicians. The work is performed in both a factory and an open-office setting. Physical demands are approximately 30% seated desk and computer work and 70% walking and standing on the shop floor, with lifting up to 50 pounds.
