About The Position

Milacron is looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join their team in Mt. Orab, Ohio. This role is responsible for developing manufacturing capabilities and standards to ensure proper manufacturing processing of components and assemblies for maximum productivity and quality. The position involves coordinating shop floor projects and activities to resolve manufacturing problems and support new product and process launches. As part of the plant leadership team, this role provides vision and direction for continuous improvement throughout the facility. The manager will interface with operations, design, quality, purchasing, safety, and component suppliers to ensure cost-effective and high-quality manufacturing methods. This position requires extensive knowledge of engineering practices and principles, establishing departmental goals, driving continuous improvement using lean manufacturing tools, cost analysis, product design methods, and integrating these skills for productive, cost-effective results. The role involves monitoring and directing day-to-day process development, assigning and prioritizing manufacturing engineering projects, tracking progress, and determining capital equipment needs, including writing specifications and supervising installation and qualification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent machining and manufacturing leadership experience.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a machining environment, with demonstrated progression in technical responsibility.
  • Prior experience leading, mentoring, or coordinating engineers, technicians, or cross-functional improvement teams.
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement methods such as Lean, Kaizen, or similar structured problem-solving tools.
  • Strong communication, project management, and shop floor problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience producing screws, barrels, or similar precision cylindrical components for heavy industrial or plastics processing applications.
  • Familiarity with deep-hole machining, heat treatment, wear-resistant materials, surface finishing, or rebuild and repair operations.
  • Experience with ERP systems, process costing, capital equipment justification, and manufacturing metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Establish goals and expectations for the department to support daily operations and drive project execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement using lean manufacturing tools.
  • Monitor and direct day-to-day process development to ensure product quality, timely product shipments, continuing cost effectiveness, and divisional profitability.
  • Assign and prioritize manufacturing engineering projects and track progress towards completion by following published timelines to attain maximum effectiveness of manufacturing engineering efforts.
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes, quality, and cost through maintaining profitability and competitiveness.
  • Determine capital equipment needs, write specification statements for equipment, and supervise installation and qualification of equipment to ensure equipment functions to meet specifications, and is delivered on time within cost requirements.
