Manager Manufacturing Engineering

About The Position

Manages and oversees all activities relating to manufacturing engineering in a plant, including major projects and process improvement, tool design, and manufacturing engineering support for all new and existing product development.

Requirements

  • Well-developed planning and organizational skills to effectively handle multiple priorities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of machining methods and assembly processes
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing and AutoCad programs
  • Ability to prepare and present technical information
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills to lead teams and effectively communicate with diverse groups of people
  • Working knowledge of Briggs & Stratton products which may include internal combustion engines and the B&S manufacturing environment
  • Must have strong project management and leadership skills
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements plans that address quality improvements and cost reductions
  • Develops capital and expense budgeting; develops a comprehensive department operating plan with strategies and tactics to achieve goals and objectives in a timely manner
  • Develops and maintains project and engineering timelines
  • Identifies, evaluates and presents new technical developments
  • Provides corporate assistance for new products, Engineering Change Order/Engineering Change Request (ECO/ECR) reviews
  • Prepares monthly status reports for new engine/product review
  • Performs full range of managerial responsibilities which may include but not be limited to: interviewing, hiring, coaching and developing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; EEO/AA; performance management; department budget
  • Performs other duties as assigned
