About The Position

Leidos is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to support our Mechanical Manufacturing Facility (MMF) for the Summer of 2026. This internship will focus on strengthening manufacturing documentation and tool traceability within the Solumina Manufacturing Execution System (MES). The selected candidate will support active production programs by standardizing calibrated tool requirements across all part numbers currently in production. They will directly update manufacturing process plans and tool records within Solumina. The position is ideal for a detail-oriented engineering student interested in manufacturing systems, production operations, and configuration control within a precision manufacturing environment. Requirements

  • Currently in junior or senior year of pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to follow structured processes and work within controlled systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in manufacturing systems and production environments.
  • Familiarity with GD&T fundamentals.
  • Exposure to CNC machine concepts.
  • Experience working with databases, ERP, or MES systems.
  • Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain calibrated tool and machine records within the Solumina tool library.
  • Review and update all active MMF manufacturing process plans to properly incorporate calibrated tooling requirements.
  • Identify tooling gaps or inconsistencies and coordinate with assigned Manufacturing Engineers for resolution.
  • Support standardization of process plan structure across multiple programs.
  • Assist with additional manufacturing engineering tasks as assigned.
