Requirements
- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related technical field
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Creo) and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Coursework or certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Process Optimization
- Exposure to assembly, welding, and machining operations used in axle and suspension component production, through academic labs, prior internships, or cooperative education programs
- Experience with data analysis tools such as Minitab, MATLAB, or Excel VBA
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, testing, and implementation of process improvements and manufacturing equipment upgrades
- Collect and analyze production data to identify areas for process optimization and waste reduction
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma principles
- Create and update manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for quality or performance issues
- Assist with time studies, tooling evaluations, and equipment layout design in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
- Collaborate with operations teams to improve equipment reliability and uptime
- Ensure all project activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
- Model professionalism and accountability
- Other duties as necessary
