About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer applies expertise in materials, engineering principles, design methodologies, and manufacturing processes to enhance product manufacturability and cost efficiency. This role focuses on optimizing production processes, improving workflow efficiency, and implementing cost-saving initiatives. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the engineer will develop and refine manufacturing methods, troubleshoot production challenges, and drive continuous improvement efforts to support Fibreworks Composites’ commitment to innovation and high-quality manufacturing.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering (e.g., Aerospace, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related field) is preferred.
  • Internship or Co-op of experience in Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in composite part manufacturing
  • Experience in process improvement (Lean, Six Sigma) concepts and methods
  • Proficiency in CAD software with an understanding of tolerances and their impact on composite manufacturing.
  • Aerospace and Defense experience preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration across teams.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to facilitate workshops or training sessions focused on process optimization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software for documentation and data analysis.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Positive attitude, can do attitude.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident in compliance with ITAR and EAR regulations

Responsibilities

  • Assist with cost‑reduction initiatives and improve manufacturing floor efficiency.
  • Optimize processes for specific projects/programs.
  • Engage in creative problem-solving to address operational issues, safety issues, workflow improvements, delays in production, and process bottlenecks.
  • Provide multi-directional feedback between engineering, manufacturing, and quality for continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and improve engineering and manufacturing processes.
  • Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures.
  • Provide input on tool designs, drawings, and work instructions to support production floor.
  • Support training supervisors with documentation and implementation feedback.
  • Train and coach staff on the best techniques and quality standards.
  • Partner with R&D and Design Engineering to test and validate improved processes.
  • Collaborate across engineering, production, quality, and manufacturing to ensure improvements meet product and customer requirements.
  • Analyze production data - Including cycle times, waste, and quality metrics.
  • Conduct check-ins, monitor project progress, and support first-article builds.
  • Assist effective automated and non-automated systems.
  • Track improvement initiatives and measure impact on KPIs like cost, lead time, and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and workplace policies at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support company goals and initiatives.
