The Toro Company is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to design, improve, and optimize manufacturing processes across the entire production flow, from parts receiving through welding, powder coating, assembly, and shipment. This role involves establishing labor time standards to meet production requirements and coordinating projects to achieve schedule objectives. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or related field.
  • Engineer I: Minimum of 0-2 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Engineer II: Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Engineer III: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Thorough understanding of heavy machinery manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge or experience with assembly tooling and equipment design.
  • Microsoft software, SAP or equivalent knowledge.
  • Basic CAD experience (ACAD, Creo, Windchill, etc.).
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Good interpersonal skills and works well with all employees.
  • Excellent work record, including indications of strong self-motivation, high productivity, reliable attendance, attention to quality, ability to learn new skills, and a cordial, cooperative personality.
  • Knowledge of Lean methods used in manufacturing processes.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains engineered time standards for direct labor operations.
  • Defines, documents, and optimizes manufacturing processes for assembly processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and repeatability.
  • Reviews current product designs and recommends modifications that minimize costs and effectively apply production capabilities.
  • Oversees the installation of equipment, methods, and processes as related to accomplishment of goals.
  • Works with department supervisors and value stream to implement new methods and processes.
  • Acts as liaison with engineering regarding engineering trouble shooting pertaining to the manufacture of current and new products.
  • Makes recommendations for improving safety, quality, or productivity activities.
  • Coordinates projects using in-house resources and outside resources to meet project costs and time schedules.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA requirements and recommends corrective action.
  • Completes assigned safety audits.
  • Implements proper ergonomics in workstation setup, processes, tooling, and safety equipment.
  • Assists New Products Engineer in coordinating new part/product manufacturing introductions, including establishing routings, requirements for jigs/fixtures/tooling, assembly methods/fixtures/procedures, and quality assurance (gauging and process controls).
  • Recommends changes in parts specifications, manufacturing processes, and production methods to improve quality, economy, efficiency, and manufacturability.
  • Prepares feasibility studies to support equipment purchases, make/buy decisions, etc.
  • Performs time studies and analyzes data to improve the flow of product and material through Manufacturing and Assembly.
  • Analyzes plant layout and coordinates changes to accomplish lean production goals.
  • Performs Value Analysis engineering activities.
  • Prepares presentations and presents information to individuals and groups.
  • Maintains positive relationships with customers, clients, supervisors, and co-workers through behavior and communication.
  • Meets or exceeds typical expectations for engineering competence, productivity, creativity, and safety.
