Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. Degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university required.
  • Engineer III- 5-7 years of experience in consumer or industrial product development of electro-mechanical or electronically controlled systems, with a demonstrated high level of competency in bringing electrical, electronic, or electrified systems and products from concept through to production.
  • Engineer IV-8+ years of experience in consumer or industrial product development of electro-mechanical or electronically controlled systems, with a demonstrated high level of competency in bringing electrical, electronic, or electrified systems and products from concept through to production.
  • Demonstrated experience in system-level controls & electrification development: requirements, power distribution, safety, diagnostics, and verification.
  • Demonstrated experience debugging firmware/software for motors and machines.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and troubleshoot vehicle electrical systems using machine schematics, meters, oscilloscopes and data acquisition equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring coworkers.
  • Demonstrated strong collaboration skills, including ability to translate cross-functionally to converge on feasible, valuable solutions.
  • Demonstrated technical competency, ability to identify and reduce risk, drive clarity, meet timelines, and apply strong engineering judgment to open ended situations to achieve project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical ownership for electrical and controls systems at the machine and platform level, including requirements, architectures, interfaces, diagnostics, and verification plans.
  • Lead definition of system requirements, interfaces, diagnostics strategies, and verification plans across electromechanical products.
  • Architect, select, and integrate system components (motors, inverters, batteries, chargers, sensors, switches, and harnesses) to meet performance, durability, manufacturability, safety, and cost targets.
  • Develop and tune controls systems for machine applications, including motors, actuators, and power-stage electronics, in close collaboration with firmware/software teams.
  • Drive system definition activities including architecture specifications, functional decomposition, and traceability from stakeholder needs to hardware and software interfaces.
  • Lead system‑level verification and validation activities using schematics, oscilloscopes, meters, DAQ systems, simulation tools, and data analysis to confirm performance, durability, and reliability targets are met.
  • Lead definition and documentation of functional safety concepts, safety functions, and performance allocations in partnership with safety, legal, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and facilitate product and platform‑level risk assessments, including hazard identification, risk evaluation, and mitigation strategy development.
  • Support compliance activities in partnership with regulatory teams and external labs for EMC, safety, and functional safety requirements.
  • Serve as a technical integrator across electrical, mechanical, software, controls, and safety disciplines to ensure aligned system behavior and design intent throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Operate as the technical nexus between mechanical, electrical, software, marketing, systems, and other groups to align solutions with customer needs and program objectives.
  • Lead and contribute to concept development, feasibility studies, and production launch activities within cross‑functional teams.
  • Lead hands‑on prototyping, instrumentation, and integration of electrical, mechanical, and software systems to evaluate concepts and mature designs.
  • Execute fast‑fail experiments and structured testing to quickly learn, iterate, and reduce technical risk.
  • Provide technical mentoring and peer guidance to engineers across disciplines, strengthening systems thinking, requirements quality, and safety‑driven design practices.
  • Identify emerging technologies, develop innovative concepts and product proposals aimed at meeting targeted market requirements or addressing distinct customer challenges.
  • Support development with model based tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW) to develop control algorithms, simulations, and HIL/SIL validation.
  • Support existing products through troubleshooting, debugging, root cause analysis, and product improvement initiatives.
  • Create and maintain high‑quality technical documentation including system requirements, DFMEAs, test plans, and design review materials.
  • Collaborate with the Legal team regarding possible patent initiatives and strategies to minimize liability.
  • Occasionally travel to test sites, suppliers, distributors, customers, manufacturing facilities, and others as required.
  • Provide day‑to‑day technical guidance to junior engineers and collaborate effectively with suppliers.
