This role is for a Manufacturing Engineer I, located in Danvers, MA. The Production Engineering Team plays a meaningful role to Abiomed by ensuring our life saving products are built to the highest quality and efficiency standards. The successful candidate will provide support to maintain production processes, solve production problems, and ensure the highest level of product quality, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturing efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent
  • 0-2 years experience in manufacturing engineering and/or environment, internship/co-op experience preferred for new graduates.
  • Has supported yield improvement and/or process optimization projects
  • Experience with root cause investigation tools
  • Understanding of equipment and process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ)
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a data-driven approach to decision-making
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within the medical device industry or other regulated industry
  • Experience with introduction of new products to production or production scale up

Responsibilities

  • Analyze manufacturing processes to find opportunities for reducing scrap and rework.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve product yield and overall production efficiency.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to address root causes of yield issues and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Address and resolve manufacturing issues that require heightened focus.
  • Collaborate with relevant team members to ensure timely and effective resolution of nonconformance investigations.
  • Author and implement protocols for handling critical issues to minimize impact on production schedules.
  • Become a subject matter expert in one or more production processes.
  • Lead initiatives to optimize existing manufacturing processes, focusing on efficiency and quality improvements.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to streamline workflows and reduce waste.
  • Work closely with production teams to identify and address process bottlenecks.
