Requirements

  • Technical school, college or at last five years previous technical experience in the Aerospace Industry
  • At least five years experience in capacity planning, production planning and manufacturing engineering
  • Above average computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project and computer-aided drafting
  • Above average math and writing skills

Responsibilities

  • Determine any special processes that may be needed for new production runs
  • Generate work travelers
  • Using CAD, make harness assembly drawings
  • Answer production questions in a timely manner
  • Decide on the best way to setup new part numbers into the Enterprise Resource Planning system
  • Review and approve engineering drawings for production tooling
  • Perform engineering designs for wired harness assembly aids
  • Decide on how much time each operation should take for all jobs (i.e. standard hours for all assembly operations)
  • Design shop aids and tooling to aid in production
  • Decide on mating connectors for InterConnect’s products and design test cables to test them
  • Assist with production and scheduling to decide on resources required for production runs
  • Serve as the efficiency engineer for an assigned program
  • Constantly review production processes and come up with ways for improvement
  • Decide on the sequence of job operations to maximize efficiency
  • Provide feedback into InterConnect’s system on ways to improve production runs after a first article is assembled
  • Lead or be a member of six sigma projects to increase productivity
  • On a weekly basis make at least one suggestion on how to improve production for ongoing or upcoming jobs
  • Evaluate the reason why cost is more or less than expected for a job and take action to implement solutions
  • Review engineering changes and decide on the impact to production
  • Be the leader of the team to incorporate all affects due to engineering changes into the scheduling, material, and production system
  • Decide on material effects due to engineering changes and provide changes to purchasing
  • Assist in negotiating price increases for customer driven engineering changes
  • Decide on the number of rework hours required due to engineering changes
  • Be InterConnect’s technical expert for a given program
  • Decide on what material is needed for production that is not on the Bill of Materials
  • Decide on what attributes and measurements to use during receiving inspection of material
  • Decide on min/max and safety stock for material that is not on the Bill of Materials
  • Decide on part substitutions for material that is no longer available for procurement
  • Decide on shrink tubing sizes to use on all areas of a wire harness and what to mark on the tubing
  • Review PO’s for technical compliance to customer requirements
  • Travel to customer sites and serve as InterConnect’s primary point of contact for technical issues
