About The Position

This role involves planning and designing manufacturing processes in an industrial plant, focusing on maximizing efficiency through analysis of equipment layout, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization. The position requires determining the necessary parts and tools to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications. The candidate will work as part of a team, providing facilities management, manufacturing engineering, equipment readiness, equipment reliability, and operational activities at the Aerospace-South Bend site. A key aspect of the role is becoming a process owner and subject matter expert for High Temperature Furnaces within the Aerospace Wheel & Braking Systems Integrated Supply Chain team. This includes auditing, training, and certifying operators on manufacturing operations, learning furnace operating processes, recording and analyzing process data, assisting with fault diagnosis, and emergency operation procedures. The role also involves providing manufacturing expertise to ensure adherence to work instructions, manufacturing methods, equipment operability, workflow, and pre-established guidelines.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment problems
  • Cause identification/FMEA experience
  • Familiar with PLCs, DCS, and HMI systems
  • Good manual dexterity, ability to climb stairs/ladders and walk a couple miles a day, and withstand a very warm environment on occasion (80-100F)
