We have an opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our New Brighton, MN team. You will provide leadership to the operations team in problem resolution and the continuous improvement of products and processes. This position will work with the New Brighton engineering teams, addressing all areas of Injection Molding operations and procedures while also focusing on achieving quality and operating objectives. You will: Understand organizational structures and development to support the value stream’s objectives and build the desired processes throughout the organization. Understand techniques for facilitating organizational change, removing roadblocks, performing constraint management, motivating employees, and resolving conflicts. Deploy strategic goals and objectives into operational plans and improvement projects on all levels of the organization. Facilitate and promote process management / lean manufacturing approaches with a principled injection molding focus. Drive process and product improvements to reduce internal defects, warranty, and scrap at all levels of the supply chain. Research to develop new and improved tools & processes for manufacturing. Conducting tests and monitoring the process performance throughout production Ensure that training is in alignment with strategic business needs and injection molding processes using various methods (training needs analysis, training curriculum development, and techniques for evaluating training effectiveness). Collaborates with cross-functional leadership to identify issues and enhance organizational design, development, and training. Identify and drive improvements in productivity, yield, scrap, rework, and downtime to achieve operational objectives. Owner of the area’s Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) Demonstrate core Manufacturing Engineering functions: Coordinate the design and procurement of fixtures, tooling, gauges, and test equipment integral to the injection molding process. Develop work instructions, drawings, tests, modifications, assembly processes, fixtures, processes, or specialized manufacturing and test equipment for existing or new products. Able to interpret and create dimensional prints (GD&T) Proficient use of Microsoft products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook. Basic operational knowledge of hand and shop tools. Leverage vendors to support cell OEE and project/product implementation. Effective and productive communication upstream and downstream.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in plastics, industrial, or manufacturing engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong and diverse background in Tooling, Equipment, Materials, Manufacturing, and Quality.
  • Self-starter must be able to work independently without much supervision.
  • 3+ years of experience in a decision-making position with the authority to define, execute, or control projects/processes and to be responsible for the outcome.
  • Experience in an ISO 9001 or similar environment
  • Have prior success in driving toward world-class product integrity and process quality using the appropriate technology and business tools such as Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma.
  • Design/modify/approve CAD models, assemblies, simulations, and drawings in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, E-Drawings, MasterCAM, and/or Cimatron.
  • Able to interpret and create dimensional prints (GD&T)
  • Have experience in handling multiple start-up projects, and driving bottom-line results, and must be able to lead and develop teams consisting of manufacturing personnel (technical and operations), and managers.
  • Five percent travel or less to domestic and international suppliers, customers, and Pentair sites as appropriate.
