About The Position

Responsible for analyzing, improving, and supporting the manufacturing processes and production equipment that sustain FGA’s automotive glass operation.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, understand and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to speak effectively and interact with other team members, engineers, leadership, and customers.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods.
  • Duties include turning at the waist, reaching, bending, squatting and lifting up to 50 pounds.

  • Visual acuity including, but not limited to: NEAR ACUITY - Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less. FAR ACUITY - Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. DEPTH PERCEPTION - Three-dimensional vision. COLOR VISION - Ability to identify and distinguish colors. FIELD OF VISION - Observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity manufacturing software.
  • Competent in solving difficult problems in production
  • Familiar with production management knowledge and ability
  • Competent in leading, communication, coordination, and organizational skills
  • Skilled in coating technology, enhancing, and training subordinates
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to support production efficiency and product quality. Evaluate production flow, process parameters, and operating conditions in order to identify inefficiencies, reduce variation, and improve consistency in manufacturing performance. Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes, production and processing, quality control, and mechanical systems to support process optimization and continuous improvement.
  • Troubleshoot production equipment and mechanical systems to maintain stable operation. Investigate equipment malfunctions, abnormal operation, and process interruptions in manufacturing areas, determine root causes, and recommend or implement corrective actions. Use mechanical engineering knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and equipment operation knowledge to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Monitor and support installation, operation, maintenance, and repair activities for manufacturing equipment. Oversee and support the technical operation of equipment to ensure machinery is functioning according to process and engineering requirements. Coordinate with maintenance and technical personnel regarding equipment condition, repair needs, and operational adjustments. Apply knowledge of mechanical equipment, industrial processes, and operational methods.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and product performance. Recommend technical or process changes based on production data, equipment performance, and process observations in order to improve throughput, reduce defects, and enhance product quality. Use engineering analysis, systems evaluation, and process improvement methods to support manufacturing performance.
  • Collaborate with engineers, maintenance personnel, and production teams to resolve technical and operational problems. Communicate with cross-functional personnel regarding equipment issues, process abnormalities, and technical requirements. Provide technical guidance to support implementation of operating procedures, process adjustments, and corrective actions. Apply communication skills, engineering knowledge, and practical understanding of manufacturing operations.
  • Review technical documents, operating procedures, and production requirements to support manufacturing activities. Interpret technical drawings, work instructions, process documents, and production specifications to ensure manufacturing operations are performed in accordance with operational and quality requirements. Use reading comprehension, technical documentation, and engineering knowledge to support production planning and execution.
  • Monitor production performance and analyze process data to identify trends, defects, and opportunities for improvement. Track production conditions, process results, and equipment performance in order to identify recurring issues and support engineering solutions. Apply analytical skills, quality control knowledge, and operations analysis to improve process stability and production consistency.
  • Provide limited technical oversight and work coordination for production operators in support of manufacturing operations. Provide day-to-day technical direction to operators related to equipment operation, process adherence, and troubleshooting support, while ensuring production activities follow established procedures and engineering requirements.
