About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. This role is responsible for assisting with the implementation of new manufacturing processes and projects at the plant level, ensuring customers receive world-class technology and processes. The engineer will also ensure existing tooling and welding processes perform to expected levels and achieve quoted rates. Functions include assisting with buildings, construction, new equipment, equipment maintenance, and the establishment and setup of assembly, manufacturing, stamping, and/or welding processes. The role involves working with departmental staff on new product launch activities to meet customer and company milestones for budget, quality, and performance, as well as improving the efficiencies of the plant production facility and equipment layouts.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Post-Secondary Technical trade school or extensive experience in related fields
  • Five years stamping or related field.
  • Five years Manufacturing Engineering or related experience
  • Process design, improvement and/or verification experience
  • Five Years Production Welding Experience
  • Electrical controls/ systems knowledge
  • P.M. systems and methodology
  • Strong understanding for elimination of waste
  • Computer Skills including but not limited to: Power Point and Microsoft Word, Excel and Projects
  • Understanding of APQP requirements
  • Solid working knowledge and demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g., MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.).
  • Solid in MS Excel required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Proficient with CAD software preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS PowerPoint preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with operations to ensure successful launches of new and takeover product.
  • Develops process and production preparation plans for new manufacturing or assembly components.
  • Creates assembly instructions/visual aids to guide the production team relating to specifications/processes.
  • Creates and maintains work instructions, time studies, and preventative maintenance instructions, all in compliance with IATF16949 requirements for all processes and equipment.
  • Assists with automation and stamping processes troubleshooting, trains operations staff, and hands over completed processes to manufacturing teams.
  • Supports manufacturing engineering, program management, and new product launch meetings (e.g., design reviews, project status reports, key measure reports, handover, etc.).
  • Assists with production preparation issues in a timely manner to allow for countermeasures.
  • Communicates project status implementation to other departments and upper management.
  • Provides assistance with existing or develops new manufacturing or assembly equipment.
  • Assists with new equipment installations and provides updates accordingly.
  • Assists with safety, process capability, efficiency, and standardization.
  • Assists with troubleshooting at production equipment.
  • Assists with maintenance activities on all manufacturing equipment, processes, building and utility systems.
  • Assists with the implementation of preventive maintenance programs in conjunction with shared services Manufacturing Engineering to ensure operability of all plant production equipment and facilities.
  • Actively participates in problem-solving to prevent the occurrence/reoccurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process, and quality systems.
  • Works with production and quality assurance to ensure quality parts within customer standards.
  • Participates in root cause analysis and problem-solving methods.
  • Assists in FMEAs, pre-production planning, and initial samples.
  • Leads associates in problem-solving regarding production, customer, and supplier concerns.
  • Maintains positive associate relations centered on mutual trust, dignity, respect, fairness, consistency, two-way communication, teamwork, and harmony.
  • Ensures safety, process capability, efficiency, and standardization across NASG facilities through NASG machine standards and designs.
  • Assists in the upgrade of the preventive maintenance program.
  • Assists the Maintenance Manager with the facility's condition.
  • Assists in ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Assists in the preparation of the strategic plan and budget.
  • Participates in Associate involvement teams.
  • Upgrades self with training as required for job responsibilities.
  • Assists with technology implementation in the welding department.
  • Participates in problem-solving and 8-D activities to ensure quality product to our customers.
  • Assists with regular review of downtime and plans for improvement.
  • Assists to ensure manufacturing processes are constantly evolving with technological advancements.
