About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for owning and driving manufacturing engineering, productivity, and quality programs within GEIS Americas. This role defines, leads, and executes projects that improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance by optimizing manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and material flow. The Manufacturing Engineer plans, designs, develops, and implements major plant engineering and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure efficient, safe, and economical utilization of manufacturing facilities. This position serves as a technical leader within operations, partnering closely with Operations, Production, Quality, Product Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, IT/OT, Finance, and EH&S to achieve production targets and sustain a culture of continuous improvement aligned with the Eaton Business System (EBS).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience facilities engineering or plant engineering with progressive levels of accountability and responsibility in Manufacturing/Operations, Continuous Improvement, and/or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of continuous improvement experience.

Responsibilities

  • Investigates and resolves manufacturing processes, quality, and productivity issues through structured problem solving and manufacturing methods studies to determine optimal processes and methods.
  • Leads productivity, quality, and cost improvement projects using Eaton Business System (EBS) tools, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma principles to deliver measurable results.
  • Plans and executes manufacturing engineering projects that improve throughput, reduce waste, and support achievement of production goals within the assigned area.
  • Evaluates and recommends processes, equipment, and layout solutions by balancing economic return, manufacturability, safety, and compatibility with existing plant facilities.
  • Partners with Product Engineering to ensure new product designs incorporate provisions for maximum manufacturing efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Identifies, specifies, and implements new manufacturing equipment, tooling, fixtures, and technologies to improve capability, capacity, quality, and material flow.
  • Develops and maintains standard work, operating procedures, process control plans, and visual management systems to ensure consistent and repeatable operations.
  • Applies lean and statistical tools to create process management and performance measurement systems that support a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Designs manufacturing fixtures and specifies tooling, gaging, and work-holding solutions necessary to support robust manufacturing processes.
  • Implements cost reduction initiatives through process improvements, material optimization, and method changes for existing manufactured products.
  • Aligns local quality initiatives with divisional quality leadership to drive effective quality assurance, defect reduction, and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Coordinates external contract services and ensures contractor compliance with Federal, State, and Eaton Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) standards.
  • Own manufacturing processes and performance for the assigned production area.
  • Drive Lean, Six Sigma, and EBS initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Own and maintain the project deck for all productivity and improvement projects within the area.
  • Lead value stream analysis, kaizen events, standard work development, and process capability improvements.
  • Ensure all manufacturing engineering activities comply with Eaton EH&S policies and applicable Federal, State, and other regulatory entities and requirements.
  • Support contractor safety compliance, risk assessments, and safe work practices.
  • Integrate safety considerations into process design, equipment selection, and plant layout.
  • Develop capital appropriation requests (CARs), business cases, and return-on-investment justifications.
  • Plan, manage, and execute capital and continuous improvement projects from concept through implementation.
  • Track project milestones, costs, risks, and results; communicate status to leadership.
  • Coordinate across Operations, Quality/Validation, EHS, IT/OT, Security, Supply Chain, and Finance.
  • Select and manage qualified vendors for equipment, maintenance, calibration, and commissioning; negotiate scope and hold vendors accountable to SLAs and safety standards.
  • Communicate clearly to all levels (operators to executives) with concise status updates and dashboards.
  • Coordinate project and process execution across Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, IT, Quality, EHS, Finance, HR, and external contractors.
  • Manage dependencies and resolve execution issues through collaboration and escalation as needed.
  • Participate in regular project and program reviews, providing accurate status updates and risk assessments.
  • Support and drive effective quality systems aligned with divisional and site strategies.
  • Utilize root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and statistical tools to improve process capability and reduce defects.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes meet internal standards and improve customer quality.
  • Provide clear and timely project status reports, including schedule updates, cost performance, risks, and issues.
  • Communicate effectively with plant leadership and functional stakeholders to align execution activities.
  • Support stakeholder change communications related to project execution and operational transitions.
