About The Position

This position will primarily support component-level fabrication--both machining operations and sheet metal fabrication--as well as supporting small/sub-assembly operations. The operating environment will be a mix of industrial production areas as well as an office environment but will lean more toward the industrial environment.

Requirements

4+ years experience as a Manufacturing Process Engineer in an industrial machining and metal fabrication environment—including CNC machining and turning of parts from billet and cast material
2-5 years of experience as a Manufacturing Process Engineer in a sheet metal fabrication operations such as cutting of sheet metal using shears, punches, and lasers; forming of sheet metal parts using press brakes and/or stamping presses—and mechanical assembly operations with basic familiarity with metals’ material properties.
Experience in technical writing and development of detailed work instructions for assembly and rework operations, including experience researching, interpreting, and translating industrial standards or specifications from engineering drawings into work instructions for a production team.
Experience using 3D CAD programs (PTC Creo preferred) to create production drawings from model.
Familiarity with and ASME Y14-series standards (including Y14.5 GD&T) and experience reading and interpreting assembly drawings.
Training or Education in the Design of Tooling, Fixturing, Jigs, gages, and support structures for machining or assembly operations
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement (CI) principles
Strong mechanical aptitude and math skills (linear algebra, geometry, trigonometry)
Must be a US Citizen with ability to pass a criminal background check (active possession or eligibility to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance preferred)

Nice To Haves

3-5 Years programming CNC machining equipment (preferably exp. with Mazak and HAAS)
2-5 Years as a Manufacturing Process Engineer in industrial assembly operations
3-5 years of experience as an engineer in aerospace and/or defense manufacturing environment (experience in AS9100 aerospace manufacturing a plus)
Experience using ERP platforms to generate production routings and Bills of Material (BOM)—SAP S/4HANA preferred.
Experience with Engineering Change Management (ECM) processes and Quality Processes (preferably as they align with AS9100 or IEEE 15288)
Familiarity with CNC G-Code and M-Code, and ASME Y14.43 (Gage Tolerancing)
Experience using PDM suites (Windchill preferred) to manage production process documents
Familiarity with National Industry Standards such as ASME, ASTM, SAE standards, and MIL-STDs in regards to fabrication, assembly, and testing procedures and requirements (Ability to Reference, Interpret, and integrate into detailed work instructions)
Experience serving on Kaizen or Tiger teams for Continuous Improvement or OPEX, and experience developing Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
Familiarity with electrical and hydraulic systems preferred
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

Development, review, and validation of production routings and work instructions, and Bills of Material (BOMs) to facilitate production operations—specifically for machining or turning operations, and light assembly operations.
Supporting ongoing production through direct support to production team members.
Preparing for new product launches through advising design engineers on DFM/DFA.
Advising on CAPEX/equipment selection.
Contributing directly to process improvement (CI Kaizen Teams).
Safety.
Design and development of Tooling, Fixturing, and other assets as needed.
Provide direct support to manufacturing, quality, and design engineering teams.
