Manufacturing Engineer
About The Position
Loft Orbital is seeking a mid-level Manufacturing Engineer to enhance our production capabilities and ensure the efficient delivery of high-quality satellite systems. This role involves designing and optimizing manufacturing processes for satellite components and systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop manufacturing strategies and plans, identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality, conducting root cause analysis for production issues and developing corrective actions, and supporting production teams with technical guidance and troubleshooting.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in aerospace or high-tech environments
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC Machining, hand-soldering, harness fabrication)
- Foundational knowledge of engineering concepts, including but not limited to: kinetics/dynamics, fluid mechanics, power systems, and thermodynamics.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
- Familiarity with aerospace standards and regulations (e.g., AS9100, IPC, NASA and/or ECSS)
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented mindset
Nice To Haves
- Green or Black Belt Certification
- Experience with project management tools and techniques
- Previous experience as a technician building spacecraft
