About The Position

Vehicle Operations Manufacturing Engineering is a cross-functional team having the primary responsibility to plan for and implement the launch of new vehicle programs at assembly plants. In this position, the Manufacturing Engineer End of Line candidate will be a part of this team and be responsible for providing EOL manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program from KO through launch. They will ensure compliance to GVOSS and Ergonomic standards for EOL test system installations, and develop and implement improvements to EOL SW and HW using data from the EOL Dashboard / ReportLogic Reporting Systems. The role also involves assisting in the preparation of NMP management reviews, performing data collection to support presentations, and leading EOL capital project teams to develop capital appropriations requests and manage projects from concept through commissioning. Additionally, the candidate will lead costing for EOL test implementation, find cost reduction opportunities, write scopes of work for EOL test systems, and support change control to evaluate product change impact on EOL test equipment costs and labor. The position requires providing onsite prototype build support at North American Manufacturing Assembly Plants, with potential travel up to 70% for installation, launch support, and issue resolution. The role includes writing functional descriptions for SW and HW modifications, coordinating pre-launch EOL validation events, assisting plant and implementation teams in resolving EOL performance issues, leading daily troubleshooting, coordinating cross-functional resources for root cause analysis and fixes, managing and breaking down problems, determining accurate validation methods, and assisting in training manufacturing personnel and plant repairmen.

Requirements

  • Strong computer skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively in stressful situations while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Automotive Manufacturing Engineering experience.
  • Experience with tooling, manufacturing processes, and facilities.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting new product launches.
  • 2+ years of experience with automated testing systems.
  • 2+ years of experience with optical measurement and calibration systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of statistics, including control charts and data collection.
  • Experience with one or more Ford software systems: AVBOM, WERS, GSPAS/APT, Teamcenter, AIM, CPARS

Responsibilities

  • Provide EOL manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program from KO through launch.
  • Ensure compliance to the GVOSS (Global Vehicle Operations Structured Standards) and Ergonomic standards for EOL test system installations.
  • Develop and implement improvements to EOL SW and HW using data from the EOL Dashboard / ReportLogic Reporting Systems.
  • Assist in preparation of NMP management reviews; perform data collection to support the presentation.
  • Lead EOL capital project teams to develop capital appropriations requests and manage the projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Lead costing for EOL test implementation and find acceptable cost reduction opportunities. Including writing scopes of work for EOL test systems.
  • Support change control to evaluate product change impact on EOL test equipment costs and labor.
  • Provide onsite prototype build support at North American Manufacturing Assembly Plants. Note: Travel within US, Canada and Mexico for installation, launch support and issue resolution may require up to 70% of dedicated time onsite.
  • Write functional descriptions for SW and HW modifications and assist in writing SOW’s.
  • Coordinate all pre-launch EOL validation events from DCV through MP2.
  • Assist plant & implementation teams in resolving EOL performance issues.
  • Lead daily trouble shooting; coordinate cross functional resources to find root cause and fixes, manage and breakdown problems into items that can be validated.
  • Determine accurate validation methods.
  • Assist in the training of manufacturing personnel and plant repairmen when required.
