About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for various aspects of new program launches and ongoing production support. This includes feasibility studies, quoting, purchasing capital equipment and tooling, and directing vendors. The role involves troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and providing technical support for daily plant operations. Additionally, the engineer will develop and maintain process documentation, perform tolerance stack-ups, and investigate cost reductions through process improvements. Responsibilities also include managing CAD drawings, plant layouts, and the drawing database, as well as working with skilled trades, program managers, and quality engineers, and managing actions from the ECN/ECR system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or a Technical degree with experience.
  • Very strong hands-on candidate with 2 + years of applicable experience.
  • Ability to solve problems through logic and removing road blocks.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office products.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and statures from jurisdictional agencies and governmental units, procedure manuals, and specification manuals.
  • Ability to write instructions, plant operating procedures, and routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, regulatory agencies, and employees of the organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply basic concepts of physical science.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in high volume steel processing/manufacturing a plus.
  • Previous experience in the automotive field a plus.
  • Knowledge of Solid Works CAD system a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct feasibility studies, estimate, quote, evaluate, specify, and purchase capital equipment and tooling for new programs or modifications to existing programs within budget.
  • Interact with and direct vendors to provide equipment and tooling that meet company standards and performance expectations.
  • Launch equipment and tooling to the production floor and support ongoing production throughout the program cycle.
  • Develop timelines and maintain them through follow-up.
  • Troubleshoot through root cause analysis and provide technical support for daily plant operations.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation and assist with quality documentation.
  • Perform tolerance stack-ups.
  • Understand and apply GD &T and datum scheme principles.
  • Investigate and implement cost reductions through process improvements.
  • Record lessons learned and revise system documentation to reduce reoccurrence.
  • Produce CAD drawings when required.
  • Maintain plant layout for efficient product flow within equipment.
  • Maintain and organize drawing database – CAD and hard copies.
  • Work directly with skilled trades, program managers, and quality engineers.
  • Manage and execute actions from the ECN/ECR system.
