About The Position

Hangzhou GreatStar Industrial, Ltd., a leading global manufacturer of hand tools, is seeking a detail-driven and innovative Manufacturing Engineer for its Saddle Brook, NJ factory. This role is crucial for maintaining and improving manufacturing operations, with a primary focus on assembly, progressive-die stamping, heat treating, and nickel-chrome electroplating. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes from conception through production, aiming to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, improve product quality, and ensure a safe working environment. Collaboration with quality, design, and operations teams is key to driving continuous improvement initiatives. Opportunities may also exist to support overseas manufacturing partners with lean initiatives for cost improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
• 0 to 2 years of experience (Internships, co-ops, or hands-on senior capstone projects in a manufacturing or production environment are a strong plus).
• Strong aptitude for data analysis using tools like Microsoft Excel (familiarity with statistical software or Minitab is a plus).
• Basic proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor is a plus).
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Foundational knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Familiarity with Quality Management Systems and basic problem-solving frameworks (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams).
• Knowledge of electromechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic machine systems.
• Knowledge of machine controls and integration.
• Valid Passport, eligible for China Visa.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with assembly, progressive-die stamping, heat treating, and nickel-chrome electroplating processes.
• Proven success in conceiving, designing, and implementing improvements to manufacturing processes.
• Experience with lean methodologies (Kaizen, Six-Sigma).
• Experience with electromechanical systems (PLC’s, stepper motors, sensors and controls).
• Experience with pneumatic systems.
• Familiarity with statistical software or Minitab.
• Basic proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and workflows to identify areas that could benefit from changes and improvements.
• Create processes and procedures to help the company meet budgetary goals as well as key performance indicators.
• Collaborate with internal colleagues and external resources to advance project work.
• Design and develop new production equipment to improve manufacturing processes.
• Specify and implement automation systems (e.g. pick-and-place robotics).
• Participate in brainstorming sessions and cross-departmental meetings to ensure collaboration and cohesion.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team to support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities and track equipment reliability metrics.
• Facilitate continuous improvement events and activities, follow through to achieve results.
• Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
• Achieve cost-saving initiatives from concept through implementation.
• Co-develop schedules and budgets for projects and keep projects on schedule and on budget.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects.
