As our Manufacturing Engineer Intern , you will step out of the classroom and onto the front lines of aerospace production. You will act as a force multiplier for our senior Manufacturing Engineers, assisting in the design of optimized plant layouts, developing custom tooling, and implementing Lean manufacturing principles to improve product flow. This isn't a "desk-only" role; you will be on the shop floor observing processes, identifying bottlenecks, and helping to train operators on the very systems you help create. Requirements

Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening.
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum (due to ITAR requirements).
Currently pursuing a BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Must have a basic understanding of manufacturing processes like machining and assembly.
Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others.
Must be comfortable interacting with both senior engineers and shop floor operators.
Must be able to sit and stand constantly, frequently transitioning between an office environment and the active manufacturing floor.
Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

Support Lean activities including plant layouts, process mapping, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM).
Assist in Kaizen events and identify opportunities to eliminate waste and facilitate smoother product flow.
Assist in the design and development of specialized manufacturing tooling and jigs using CAD software.
Research and implement improved methods for tooling storage and inventory control.
Support the creation and maintenance of highly detailed process documentation and visual work instructions.
Ensure that internal process specifications are up-to-date and easily understood by operators.
Aid in the identification and implementation of process and assembly improvements.
Research the feasibility and performance of new equipment or components to determine their impact on production efficiency.
Support the installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery to ensure equipment is functioning according to strict aerospace specifications.
Assist in the training of shop floor operators on key processes and new equipment, ensuring safety and quality standards are maintained across the facility.
