This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As part of a small and agile engine test team, you will provide manufacturing engineering support for component development and acceptance test campaigns for rocket engine subcomponents. Your day-to-day work will center on developing and releasing work instructions for hardware swaps and daily test operations, managing test plans, tracking hardware configuration and inventory, and documenting non-conformances — all to keep test campaigns moving safely and efficiently. Beyond daily operations, you will research and develop improved methods, tooling, and systems to increase test cadence and reliability. You will define and support test article maintenance, inspection, and repair activities, provide technical direction to on-site technicians, and interface with cross-functional partners including design engineering, test operations, and supply chain. Your contributions will directly support the development, qualification, and flight of Blue Origin's world-class rocket engines. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university
  • 3+ years of applicable experience
  • Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing
  • Hands-on experience in hardware manufacturing (i.e. maintenance, assembly and integration, instrumentation, cleaning, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware, fabrication and machining, and manufacturing execution systems/software)
  • Successful track record of completing testing/manufacturing projects
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, scheduling, issue tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels of an organization
  • Must be eligible and able to gain access to Redstone Arsenal

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in engineering
  • 5+ years of applicable experience
  • Aerospace or propulsion testing experience
  • Pressurized fluid systems experience
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or similar quality management systems

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage work instructions and test plans for daily test operations, test article maintenance, and other test-related activities.
  • Provide technical direction to technicians for hardware removal, replacement, and other hands-on activities.
  • Provide general test and hardware assistance as needed, including supporting test setup activities.
  • Define and support test article maintenance, inspection, repair, and rework activities between and throughout test campaigns.
  • Manage hardware configuration and maintain pedigree throughout the test process.
  • Ensure necessary hardware is on hand for upcoming and recurring test activities, including helping develop and maintain critical spares lists.
  • Review, evaluate, and disposition non-conformances; when escapes are identified, deploy recovery strategies, perform root cause analyses, and execute corrective actions.
  • Research and develop improved methods, tooling, and systems to increase test cadence and reliability.
  • Drive improvements in tooling, safety, and quality affiliated with the build and test process.
  • Interface with manufacturing partners to ensure that hardware and equipment is manufactured, processed, packaged, and delivered properly, on time, and on budget.
  • Perform engineering drawing reviews and provide feedback to design and manufacturing teams.
  • Apply engineering fundamentals and manufacturing knowledge to troubleshoot operational issues.
  • Support cost, quality, and schedule management of hardware throughout the test process.
