The Defense Systems Division is part of the Parker Aerospace Group, located in Irvine, California. Our products are used across military and commercial platforms globally. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BSc) in Manufacturing, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years' of related experience and/or training.
  • Must have 1-3 years' experience applying lean techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN : U.S. Citizen (no dual citizenship).
  • Required to be a team player and respectful.
  • Must cooperate with colleagues.
  • Should be able to work individually and independently and under time pressure and lack of resources.
  • Must be able to travel, if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, develops and implements continuous improvement in manufacturing processes in the department thru the use of lean techniques.
  • Able to review technical drawings and suggest improvements to reduce cost, rework or scrap.
  • Utilizes continuous improvement of manufacturing and business processes through the application of lean techniques: Value Stream Mapping, 5S, work cells, pull systems, error-proofing and visual management.
  • Analyzes and plans space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Collaborates with design engineers concerning product design (DFM) and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Designs tooling and fixturing using SolidWorks.
  • Works with suppliers to determine product specifications, evaluate processes and capabilities and train on lean techniques.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Documents general manufacturing procedures and part-specific work instructions.
  • Responsible for BOM coding (make or buy decisions and assign commodity codes).
  • May be assigned to assist other departments.
  • May require interaction with Customers and Suppliers.
  • May be required to travel up to 20%.
