About The Position

Responsible for the direction of production assembly of components and assemblies with a moderate degree of complexity, requiring on the part of the assemblers have good dexterity with hand tools and the ability to work to moderately close tolerances or with parts or components which require special care in handling. The work in these assembly operations is typically not highly repetitive, although the cycle of repetition may be short enough to allow the development of some habit patterns. Subordinate assemblers are able to work from detail blueprints or other input documents of similar complexity and may make minor procedural decisions in their work, within established guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 5+ years related experience and/or training.
  • Must understand precision mechanical assembly, including drilling, riveting, installation of fasteners, fitting and bench assembly per Military Specifications.
  • Machine Shop knowledge a plus.
  • Personal Computer literate.
  • Spreadsheets, word processing and presentations (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must be able to operate drill press, pneumatic and electrical operating machines, hand, electrical and air tools, calipers, hand truck, pallet jack and battery-operated stacker.
  • Will use copier, fax and telephone.
  • Position involves ability to frequently or constantly exert up to 20 pounds of force and occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force to move/lift objects.
  • Must be a US citizen.

  • Machine Shop knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors assigned work in process, building maintenance, general housekeeping and performs basic to moderate test stands monthly and yearly inspections.
  • Monitor all assembly personnel for adherence to assembly procedures.
  • Verify that all appropriate tooling and paperwork, i.e. drawings, specifications, procedures, work orders, etc. are available at the workstation and sign off on any in-process inspections.
  • Emphasize safety and cleanliness by maintaining organized workstations and verifying that appropriate safety equipment is being used properly.
  • Knowledgeable in 5S + Safety, utilizing and updating Team Improvement Boards.
  • Maintain productivity, quality and overall performance of assembly operations by completing weekly assignments as scheduled.
  • Identify and eliminate production bottlenecks.
  • Immediately report to your supervisor any infractions of any safety or department/company rule or injury.
  • Report all failures to your supervisor.
  • Train shop personnel as required.
  • Update supervisor of problems and/or discrepancies affecting production schedule.
  • Position will require some assembly work while performing lead duties.
