About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer I supports and improves service and calibration processes for precision measurement instrumentation in a high‑mix, low‑volume environment. This role focuses on process documentation, standard work, tooling, and continuous improvement to ensure safe, repeatable, and compliant service and calibration operations. The position supports calibration systems and equipment to maintain measurement integrity and traceability, working closely with Operations, Quality, and Engineering to support daily service activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial), or a related technical discipline.
  • 0–3 years of experience in a manufacturing, service, or engineering support role within a regulated or technical environment (including applicable internships or co‑op experience).
  • Foundational understanding of manufacturing or service engineering principles, including process documentation, standard work, and change control.
  • Experience supporting or troubleshooting technical processes, systems, or equipment using structured problem‑solving methods.
  • Ability to analyze basic data sets and translate findings into clear documentation or process improvements with guidance.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to support training, documentation, and cross‑functional collaboration.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting service, repair, test, or calibration operations for electromechanical or precision measurement products.
  • Exposure to calibration systems, measurement equipment, or metrology concepts, including traceability and measurement uncertainty.
  • Experience working in a high‑mix, low‑volume manufacturing or service environment.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) for routing, BOM, or work instruction maintenance.
  • Exposure to Lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment (e.g., ISO‑based quality systems) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support service manufacturing and calibration processes for precision measurement instruments in a high‑mix, low‑volume environment.
  • Prepare, revise, and maintain service and calibration documentation in the ERP system (SAP), including work instructions, routings, Bills of Material (BOMs), and associated drawings.
  • Support calibration systems, equipment, fixtures, and software workflows to ensure measurement integrity, traceability, and compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Provide hands‑on engineering support to service technicians by troubleshooting process, tooling, equipment, or documentation issues encountered during repair and calibration activities.
  • Assist with the implementation of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) impacting service and calibration operations.
  • Participate in root‑cause investigations and structured problem‑solving efforts (e.g., 8D, corrective actions) related to service quality, rework, or repeat failure issues.
  • Analyze service, calibration, and quality data sets with guidance to identify trends, variation, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean, 5S, and Kaizen activities within service and calibration areas.
  • Train service personnel on changes to service processes, calibration workflows, and standard work.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Operations, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Metrology to support service objectives and process improvements.
  • Perform other engineering support tasks as assigned.
