About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer, Hot Form Press will be responsible for feasibility studies, estimates, quotes, evaluation, specification, and purchase of capital equipment and tooling for new programs or modifications to existing programs. This role involves interacting with and directing vendors to ensure equipment and tooling meet hot form standards and performance expectations. The engineer will launch equipment and tooling to the production floor, support ongoing production throughout the program cycle, and develop and maintain timelines. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting through root cause analysis, providing technical support for daily plant operations, developing and maintaining process documentation, and assisting with quality documentation. A solid understanding of GD&T, datum schemes, and tolerance stack-ups is required. The role involves investigating and implementing cost reductions through process improvements, recording lessons learned, and revising system documentation. The engineer will be responsible for producing CAD drawings when required, maintaining plant layout for efficient product flow, and managing the drawing database. Establishing and maintaining spare parts inventories, leading the hot forming team, working directly with skilled trades, program managers, and quality engineers, and managing actions from the ECN/ECR system are also key duties. The position requires performing audits to ensure compliance with CQI9 or hot form related customer specifics and serving as the heat treat designee for the entire plant. Additional responsibilities may be added as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or a Technical degree with experience.
  • Very strong hands-on candidate with 2+ years of applicable experience.
  • Ability to solve problems through logic and removing road blocks.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office products.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and statures from jurisdictional agencies and governmental units, procedure manuals, and specification manuals.
  • Ability to write instructions, plant operating procedures, and routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, regulatory agencies, and employees of the organization.
  • Solid understanding of GD &T and datum scheme.
  • Basic knowledge or above in material transfer/metallurgy.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in high volume steel processing/manufacturing a plus.
  • Previous experience in hot stamping or Hot Forming.
  • Knowledge of Solid Works CAD system a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with skilled trades, program managers, and quality engineers.
  • Manage and execute actions from the ECN/ECR system.
  • Perform audits and ensure compliance with CQI9 or Hot form related customer specifics.
  • Serve as the heat treat designee for the entire plant.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed.
