About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer - Continuous Improvement will prioritize, guide, and facilitate the activities of the manufacturing function to meet organizational goals, initiatives, and requirements. This role involves working with Operations, Engineering, Planning, and Facilities to identify and remove bottlenecks in the manufacturing process. The engineer will lead cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, on-time delivery, production efficiency, and scrap reduction. Key responsibilities include establishing and maintaining manufacturing performance metrics, ensuring operations metrics are tracked daily, and establishing reporting systems. The role also involves overseeing the development of standard policies, procedures, and practices to ensure customer requirements are met, reaffirming or establishing production goals, and developing the capabilities of the department through teaching, coaching, and accountability. The engineer will exhibit and promote an engaged and energized workforce attitude on the plant floor and drive improvements through data analysis, best practice methodologies, and the development of new technologies. This position also includes Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) responsibilities, such as assisting in the implementation of EHS values and policies, complying with EHS regulations, wearing required PPE, reporting job-related illnesses and injuries, reporting safety concerns, and attending EHS training.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in an engineering field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of one year experience with application of Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • BS Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing or Applied Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A strong technical understanding of Production KPIs.
  • Strong analytical skills using Excel, Minitab and or other statistical software.
  • AutoCAD, SolidWorks and or other 3D modelling tools experience.
  • Strong leadership skills that foster an engaged employee environment.
  • Previous experience with change management.
  • Demonstrated results in leading manufacturing excellence.
  • A strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and negotiation skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience in the investment casting industry a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize, guide, and facilitate the activities of the manufacturing function to meet organizational goals, initiatives and requirements.
  • Work with Operations, Engineering, Planning and Facilities to identify and remove bottlenecks in the manufacturing process.
  • Lead cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives for safety, on-time delivery, production efficiency, and scrap reduction.
  • Establish and maintain manufacturing performance metrics throughout the departments.
  • Ensure operations metrics are well-known and tracked on a daily basis to achieve manufacturing and plant objectives.
  • Establish reporting systems for the different manufacturing metrics.
  • Oversee the development of standard policies, procedures and practices to ensure customer requirements are embodied in manufacturing processes.
  • Reaffirm existing production goals, or establish new goals, and lead the group effort to achieve those goals.
  • Develop the capabilities of those in the department through teaching, coaching, establishing high standards, and ensuring accountability.
  • Exhibit and promote an attitude on the plant floor that leads to an engaged and energized workforce.
  • Drive improvements by developing and implementing systems and procedures based on data analysis.
  • Utilize best practice methodologies and develop new technologies.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Assist in the implementation of EHS Values and policy statements and accompanying principals.
  • Comply with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory EHS regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report all job-related illness and injuries (Per Employee Handbook).
  • Report all safety, health and environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Attend all EHS training.
