About The Position

Join SMP as a Manufacturing Engineer where you’ll play a crucial role in supporting new specialized assemblies that are used on production tools. Using your knowledge of technology and engineering principles you will oversee the planning, development, and maintenance of manufacturing methods, processes, and operations. You'll tackle technical, quality, and production challenges and work with product design specialists to realize maximum manufacturing efficiency while enhancing product performance. Your expertise in optimizing manufacturing costs and standards helps shape Lam's commitment to innovation and efficiency in manufacturing. In this role, you will directly contribute to developing manufacturing methods and design optimization for high volume ramps of specialty assemblies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience; or 5 years with a Master’s degree
  • Must be well-versed in Microsoft Office products, with proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting capabilities in the areas of electromechanical and or electrochemical assemblies.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in DFMA with approach to structured problem solving and decision making.
  • Experience in Engineering Change Management Process.
  • Working knowledge in work instructions, process planning and Bill of Materials management.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills both written and verbal, in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing methodologies as they apply to Low volume/high mix products.
  • Experience with 3D modeling; Dassault, NX, CREO, SOLIDWORKS training strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Semiconductor equipment, Capital Equipment industry and its manufacturing processes
  • Statistical analysis skills including statistical process control and data analysis used in production setting.
  • Knowledge of basic software coding in any of the following: python, C++, labview and G-code.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust manufacturing processes for specialized mechatronic products.
  • Manage MBOMs and maintain reporting systems for traceability of manufacturing operations.
  • Interface with design engineering to provide feedback for the manufacturability of new product designs based on results from DFMA, PFMEA, serviceability, safety, ergonomics, and modularity analyses.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that impact quality, yield, cost, and throughput.
  • Perform root cause investigation and recommend corrective actions to address manufacturing quality escapes, bottlenecks, and excess material consumption.
  • Execute the cost and capacity analysis to recommend make vs buy strategies for key components.
  • Engage with suppliers to address issues that impact the manufacturability of assigned assemblies.
  • Design fixtures and develop new or optimize fabrication equipment requiring conception of equipment design and evaluation, as well as developing software and controls for automating and integrating equipment into manufacturing flow.
