About The Position

The Manufacturing Automation Engineer will lead the implementation and optimization of robotic welding and automation within commercial heat exchanger manufacturing, including process development, robot programming, tooling, cell integration, troubleshooting, and FAT/SAT. The position will also drive smart factory initiatives by integrating connected machines, MES/ERP and IoT systems, implementing SPC, and developing standards and roadmaps that enable continuous improvement and advanced manufacturing capabilities.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics(STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Experience may be obtained through on the job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
  • Industry experience with factory technologies
  • Experience in robotic programming

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with IoT platforms & connectivity, machine protocols and network connectivity, automation systems, MES, ERP, industry standards, safety regulations, and data analytics tools
  • Experience in robotic programming using Fanuc software
  • Experience with manufacturing processes related to plate-fin heat exchanger processing such as fabrication, welding, brazing, and heat treating
  • Experience in SPC implementation

Responsibilities

  • Implement robotic welding into commercial heat exchanger manufacturing. Including process development, tooling design/build, programming robot paths, RRCA activities, path optimization, distortion reduction, creating any necessary standards (work instructions, PMPs, lessons learned, operator PMs), perform necessary cell layout actions, and perform SAT/FAT.
  • Participate in cross functional teams working future automation projects within factory, including: Business case development, statement of work generation, SAT/FAT, and implementation of automated process within production.
  • Lead or contribute to machine connectivity initiatives, including network configuration, tag structuring, and data modeling to enable smart factory capabilities.
  • Drive the integration of factory systems (e.g., MES, ERP) with IoT platforms and ensure real-time data visibility and communication across the production environment.
  • Develop and maintain a roadmap for continuous innovation, maintenance, and enhancement of the smart factory operating systems and software.
  • Implementation of statistical process control (SPC) of automation inputs and/or outputs to achieve predictable process output
