About The Position

The Manufacturing Associate collaborates directly with the team coordinator and department manager to produce surface mount and through hold solder which meets or exceeds IPC standards. This position is key to company quality standards. Vanguard EMS, Inc. is in the service business. Requirements

  • High-level critical thinking, analysis, and organization.
  • Self-motivation, problem solving abilities, team spirit and a “hands on” mentality.
  • Strong attention to detail and proficient communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Solid understanding of basic electronic component identification and board handling (PCBA).
  • Knowledge of common manufacturing processes and/or equipment operation.
  • Effectively manipulate small and/or fragile components and tools.
  • Ability to use visual aids, complicated drawings to verify quality products.
  • Communicate in person, over the phone, email, internet or in writing in a positive, professional manner.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed to support production (daily and weekly).
  • Normal color vision
  • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent
  • 2 years of soldering PCBA’s at an IPC Class Level (I, II, III)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience of SMT, through-hole, wave and/or selective solder processes and/or equipment operations.

Responsibilities

  • Solder electronic components including resistors, capacitators, connectors, IC’s, switches, crystals, using no-clean and organic flux and both lead and lead-free solder at IPC Class II and Class lll levels.
  • Develop, document, and maintain documentation for set-up and daily operations.
  • Perform machine set-up, cleanup, and maintenance according to documented procedures.
  • Touch-up (remove bridges, remove/replace SMT components as small as .0201 caps and resistors).
  • Ensure that products meet all customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Inspect and quality check own work and maintain a clean, organized area.
  • Communicate quality issues to the appropriate team and manager as needed.
  • Help wave solder/pre-wave when needed and participate in controlled process improvement projects.
