About The Position

Maintains manufacturing operation through the performance of machine maintenance and troubleshooting. Works with the machine shop and engineering for all area-related projects. Ensures area staff is running priority machines. Trains employees and updates training guides and SOPs as needed. Suggests and implements improvements in the work area. Oversees the area for all shifts. Performs basic machine shop work including drilling, tapping, sawing, and grinding. Able to sketch simple parts and read basic prints. Works on continually improving processes and machinery in the assigned area. Works independently with minimum supervision (self-starter). Demonstrates above-average mechanical ability, including troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify the source of process-related problems. Possesses the ability to get along with and train other people with a variety of skill levels. Capable of performing all setups and changeovers on production equipment in the area. Able to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators. Coordinates and assists quality with requirements and quality standards. Updates SOPs and training plans as needed and works closely with the engineering department on updating tooling lists as needed. Develops and owns the training plan. Standardizes changeovers and adjustments for best practices. Signs off on training with each new employee in the area and reviews process changes with current staff as needed. Demonstrates leadership qualities in the areas of safety, personal discipline, and attitude.

Requirements

  • One year as a Manufacturing Specialist 5, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated above-average mechanical and technical skills in previous roles, including the operation of BLIE, El Dorado, and CCU systems, as well as general ARC operations.
  • Possesses a strong understanding of and ability to maintain compliance with RCRA and ARC requirements, including regulatory reporting, while working in lead-processing areas requiring strict adherence to PPE requirements, safety procedures, and environmental compliance standards.
  • Reliable in attendance, productivity, safety and quality.
  • Demonstrated positive teamwork skills; promoted teamwork and demonstrated effective skills to help others meet goals; builds teamwork on shift and between other shifts.
  • Training and experience in a machine shop or knowledge of metal working machine and processes.
  • Ability to operate surface grinder, polish dies and sharpen knives.
  • Demonstrated effective written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership/organizational skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and efficiently with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all Operations within area.
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours across multiple shifts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others and provide clear and effective training.
  • No record of disciplinary action at a Report of Conference level or above within previous 12 months.
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft word, excel and outlook.
  • Other projects assigned.
