About The Position

Life Fitness is the global leader in the fitness industry, dedicated to helping people lead active and healthy lives by designing and manufacturing cutting-edge fitness products. This role assists in the daily operations and monitoring of the manual weld area, focusing on tracking performance, coordinating personnel, and implementing safety and quality improvements. The Manual Weld Lead will manufacture MIG-welded assemblies, ensure adherence to engineering standards, and meet company expectations for safety, quality, and productivity. Responsibilities include cross-training, employee deployment, manpower allocation, and addressing quality and material issues. The lead will provide hands-on guidance and training to welders, assist in developing time standards, and manage the flow of materials. They will also collaborate with supervisors and managers on process improvements, communicate employee work issues, and work with quality assurance on material discrepancies. Additionally, the role involves coordinating service work orders into the production schedule and liaising with other department leads and management. Potential duties include assisting with performance reviews and administering corrective actions.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of Associate’s Degree
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Experience in a MRP system

Responsibilities

  • Assist with coordination of all aspects of the production within the manual weld area or areas assigned.
  • Manufacture MIG-welded assemblies in accordance with engineering standards while meeting company safety, quality, and productivity expectations.
  • Responsible for cross training based on training standards, employee deployment to respective work assignments, manpower allocating, quality and material issues.
  • Provide hands-on guidance, support, and training to welders in proper techniques, safety practices, and quality standards.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining time standards and the continuous flow of materials.
  • Document and discuss with supervisor/manager any discrepancies regarding quality and time standards with welders.
  • Work with supervisor/manager to lead small group meetings to address inefficient work practices and collaborate to make improvements in the work area.
  • Communicate to the supervisor/manager employee work issues.
  • May work closely with quality assurance on failed materials/components and related quality issues.
  • Coordinate service work orders into the daily set production schedule.
  • Manufacturing leads liaise with other department leads and supervisory management.
  • May assist with performance reviews; administer corrective action as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
