About The Position
Murphy’s Family Staffing is hiring a skilled Manual Machinist for a busy hydraulic repair and remanufacturing shop in York, PA. This role supports real industrial work, including hydraulic cylinders, rods, pistons, glands, precision machining, repair machining, and rework. The shop is known for tackling large, high-stakes hydraulic components and quality-driven work. This is a strong long-term opportunity for a machinist who can think through a repair, hold tight tolerances, and confidently run manual lathes and mills.
Requirements
- Manual machining experience required (lathe + mill)
- Strong measuring skills and tolerance awareness
- Ability to read prints / interpret dimensions
- Mechanical mindset (repair work, not just repetitive parts)
- Reliable attendance
- Driver’s license + reliable transportation
Nice To Haves
- Experience with hydraulic cylinder repair/remanufacturing
- Experience machining large parts / heavy industrial components
- Background in shops doing repair work, not just production runs
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual engine lathes and manual mills (Bridgeport-style)
- Machine and repair hydraulic cylinder components (rods, pistons, glands, sleeves, etc.)
- Measure and hold tolerances using micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges
- Read and work from prints, sketches, and dimensions
- Perform repair-style machining: fit-up, rework, salvage, and precision correction
- Maintain clean, safe work habits in a production/repair environment
