Set-up, adjust and operate conventional and/or CNC machines to fabricate required parts. This role requires experience with HAAS, Bridgeport style knee mills and manual lathes, pedestal and surface grinders, fixtures and jigs. The Manual Machinist will study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of the finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and set-up requirements. They will measure, mark and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining. Selecting, aligning, and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jog borers, grinders, and shapers is crucial. Calculating and setting controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or entering commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media will be part of the daily tasks. The machinist will start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required. Verifying conformance of finished workpiece to specifications, setting up and operating machines on trial runs to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data, and fitting and assembling parts into complete assemblies are also key responsibilities. Installing machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and testing operation of the unit to ensure functionality and performance are required. Developing specifications from general descriptions and drawing sketches of parts or products to be fabricated, and conferring with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems are also part of the role. Teamwork is emphasized as essential for the company's continued success, promoting positive customer relations and business growth.
