About The Position

In this role, your responsibilities will be to conduct safe and timely setup of manual lathe equipment. You will make machine/tooling adjustments and changes to bring non-conforming output into specifications. You will inform the Group Leader/Supervisor of any operating or material condition that would interfere with quality/quantity production. You will perform routine operator maintenance and operational checks on all tools and equipment utilized, to include; tool sharpening, machine oiling, fluid level/air pressure checks, safety switch functioning etc. You will perform dimensional inspections to ensure quality products are produced including 1st Article Inspection. You will conduct tool setup and change perishable tooling that is worn or damaged. You will ensure timely flow of parts through the machine shop by following set procedures. You will make suggestions for alternate responsibilities when application allows additional internal time and meet cycle time rates established for specific part numbers. You will read and interpret machine shop blueprints, segregate and periodically dispose of scrap material into approved collection containers, and operate material handling equipment when moving materials into, around, or out of the department. You will accurately use measurement tools such as micrometers, verniers, height gage, bore gage, and attribute style gages. You will follow all 5S practices and support lean activities, as well as safety regulations policies and procedures. You will also train operators to run jobs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience operating a manual engine lathe
  • Typically requires a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and/or verbal work instructions.
  • Ability to recognize, set up, and effectively uses general measuring instruments.
  • Ability to comprehend and utilize ISO manufacturing procedures.
  • Ability to perform basic computer operations and mathematical computation.
  • Ability to move or transfer products with overhead crane.
  • Flexibility regarding job assignments.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds, if required.
